The new BMW X1 has grown. The new version has a design that is more like a crossover vehicle, and it looks like a smaller version of the X5. The exterior styling of the X1 still has many of the signature BMW features, including the twin-kidney grill and the quad headlights. Drivers of all kinds are sure to love this updated vehicle, but here are some reasons it might be right for you.

The Driver With Passengers

The 2016 X1 is 1.7 inches taller and it has 2.6 more inches of leg room in the back. This makes it easier to pile your friends or family into the car for a road trip.  Even your taller friends will have enough room to sit up straight, and their legs won’t feel cramped. The new design also includes power-folding rear seats and a power liftgate so you can get all your gear in the back.

The Driver Looking for Luxury

The 2016 model has an updated interior. Soft-touch surfaces replace the hard plastic in the previous version, for a more luxurious and high-end feel. The styling is similar to what you would find in the 7 Series, but the vehicle is at a lower price point so the average driver can afford it. Inside you’ll also find French-stitched leather in two different shades, with the option for dark oak paneling. The matte chrome and black accents add to the luxurious look.

The Tech Savvy Driver

BMW’s iDrive infotainment system has everything you need to control the music, the navigation, and many of the vehicle functions. This system also controls the 12-Speaker Harmon/Kardon speakers. The main control screen of the infotainment system has a touchpad that you can use to write text messages and dial phone numbers with just your fingertip.

The Driver Looking For Performance

Under the hood of the new X1, you’ll find a 2.0-liter turbo charged engine. The eight-speed automatic sees 228 horsepower and it will go from zero to 60 in just a little over 6 seconds. The car handles well on all types of roads, even with the higher center of gravity and front wheel drive. This little car even performs well in off-road conditions. It powers up hills and will get through muddy trails without a hitch.

The Safe Driver

The X1 has many standard safety features. It comes with stability and traction control, along with air bags both in the front and on the sides. You’ll also have access to the BMW’s emergency system, with automatic crash notification and roadside assistance. Choose other optional safety features such as a rearview camera and parking sensors, along with even more advanced systems such as frontal collision warning and pedestrian detection.

The 2016 X1 has a little something for every kind of driver. Whether you are looking for an affordable family vehicle or something you can take almost anywhere, you can get it with the X1. The new model is more comfortable for both the driver and passengers, making this a fun car for a road trip.
