A look inside/out!

When comparing these two models, it is important to note that while they both feature an overall sophisticated design and luxurious cabin that is rooted in comfort, only the BMW comes with a rear hatch. This results in a level of versatility and maximum run volume that not only many of today’s drivers desire, but that the Tesla simply cannot match.

When it comes to customizing the interior, the BMW offers far more opportunities, with 12 color options and six wheel options, compared to the Tesla at five color options and one wheel option. BMW also offers nine interior options.

Both have seating for up to five with the BMW at five doors and the Tesla at four. Standard trunk volume is larger in the BMW at 16.60 cubic feet compared to 15 in the Tesla. The maximum trunk volume is also much greater in the BMW at 45.56 cubic feet compared to 15 in the Tesla.

Power packed!

When it comes to power, the BMW stands stronger, outpacing its competitor with a maximum horsepower of 536 and 586 lb-ft of torque, compared to 450 hp in the Tesla and 487 lb-ft. In the jump from 0-60 mph, the Tesla does lead the pack at 3.1 seconds, but the BMW is arguably just as fast, reaching that same acceleration in just 3.7 seconds. In Performance Enhancement Features, the BMW also rises above greatly with active air suspension standard, although not available in the Tesla; which also is void of a towing option compared to BMW’s 3,527 pounds.

No matter which model, both come with an option between sporty rear-wheel drive or dual electric motor all-wheel drive for enhanced capability.

Tech leader!

Technology is another area the BMW stands out and far ahead, with the i4 M50 presented with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard, popular features not available in the Tesla. Furthermore, the Tesla is also absent of many cutting-edge technologies in its base trim as well as comfort features that are standard in the BMW. Examples of those include: a leather-wrapped steering wheel, universal remote control, digital rearview mirror, driver-assisted parking assist, lane-keeping assist, rear cross traffic alert, driver attention alert plus more.

Other points to consider!

Tesla charges $15,000 for self-driving, where BMW’s highway assistant costs only $2,500, although not on the i4 but rather on the i7, X7, X5 and 7 Series, as well as the new i5 and 5 series. However, the i4 boasts Traffic Jam, which provides partially automated steering input on certain roadways up to 40 mph in suitable driving conditions.

In the area of safety, the BMW undoubtedly shines. That is due in large part to the fact that Tesla no longer uses lidar for the self-driving, which has led to major safety concerns. Its complete and total reliance on cameras has caused issues with the vehicle struggling with depth of field.

In taking a closer look at how these two thrill seekers compare, it is not hard to determine the leader. BMW presents through its i4 M50 not only versatility, luxury and all-out performance, but has features that are simply not present within the Tesla. From leading technology to roominess within, BMW is the clear choice! Reserve yours today!
