The University of Akron has a long list of impressive men and women’s teams that keep fans on their toes watching a variety of competitive sports. The teams play at the InfoCision Stadium/Summa Field, James A. Rhodes Arena, and other area locations, so fans can see their favorite competitors play baseball, football, soccer, track and field, golf, lacrosse, swimming and diving, and soccer. Teams have morning, afternoon, and evening games scheduled throughout the summer.

The Firestone Country Club plays host each summer to players competing in World Golf Championships. This year the Bridgestone Invitational competition is scheduled for Aug. 2-5. The PGA Championship Invitational brings some of the best golf pros in the world to Akron for the special event. Tickets are currently on sale with various options available.
Watch players fly high as the Akron Aviators professional basketball team leaps to make the perfect basket at the LeBron James Arena. The Akron Aviators recently joined the ranks of the American Basketball Association (ABA) and ended their inaugural 2017-2018 season against the Chicago Fury. Stay tuned as the team prepares for the new season with home games scheduled at the arena.
Run wild at the Akron Marathon Race Series celebrating 16 years of world-class running. Kick off the competition on June 30 at 8:30 a.m. with runners and walkers taking to the course starting at the InfoCision Stadium, which will host the 8K and 1-mile competition.
On Aug. 11, the Goodyear Half Marathon and 10K races begin at 6:30 a.m. at the Goodyear Akron Proving Grounds then on to the historic World Headquarters.
The FirstEnergy Akron Marathon, Half Marathon, and Team Relay bring the opportunity for runners to compete against other running enthusiasts in downtown Akron as they race along the Blue Line amid cheers from spectators lining the way. The race is scheduled for Sept. 29, 2018, at 7 a.m.
