Looking for some fun activities to head to this autumn in Akron? Look no further.
The Fall Flyer is a train along the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railway. It departs every Saturday and Sunday throughout the month of October at 9:45 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Trains depart from Rockside Station.
The journey is a two-hour non-stop train journey that takes you through the Cuyahoga Valley to enjoy the beautiful fall foliage. It’s one of the best ways in Akron to see the colors of autumn.
The Akron Art walk is a monthly event that offers Akron residents something unique and varied. During the autumn, you’ll be able to enjoy a walk around the city and speak to local artists, go to galleries and learn about different types of art, and even buy a few pieces to take home with you.
The next art walk will be on November 4. Start at the Akron Public Library where you’ll pick up a map of all of the galleries, boutiques, and cafes taking part in the art walk. There will be live music and pop-up street vendors selling their crafts.
Want a fun Halloween activity that’s great for the whole family? Boo at the Zoo is perfect for kids of all ages. The event is on every weekend through the month of October starting on October 14 and going until October 29. It’s a non-scary event, so don’t fear that your little ones will get too scared.
When you buy your tickets for the event, each child will receive a candy passport that they can get stamped around the zoo as they trick-or-treat their way around the park. Don’t forget to come in costume! Be sure to book in advance so you don’t miss out, and if you’re a zoo member, admission is free.
If you’re looking for something a little more adult-friendly, the Wadsworth Fall Festival is a wine and beer tasting event that is now in its third year. This year’s festival will be at The Galaxy on Thursday, October 26 starting at 6 p.m.
The Wadsworth Fall Festival isn’t just a fun place to sample different wines and locally brewed beers; it’s also a wonderful fundraiser that supports the Wadsworth YMCA. There will be a silent auction where you can bid on different items and experiences, a raffle, and grab bag wines that you can take home with you.
