An upgrade is on the horizon — What we know so far!

“All-new” is the first hint when it comes to the X2, a restyled crossover planned to be sportier than ever before! Expected to share the same powertrain as the first-generation model, the new X2 boasts an updated interior among its dramatic changes. With production planned to begin later this year and poised to stand far ahead of its rivals, the new X2 will be well worth the wait!

Here’s more….

Its look!

Changes on the exterior are dramatic, resulting in the new X2 having the appearance of a smaller X4, but with the headlights and squarer grille more commonly linked to the X1. It is expected that, if the new X2 follows the X1 when it comes to exterior appearance, then it is surely to be a winner with its aggressive look! With a sporty profile, it will appeal to driver and passenger alike.

Leaked thus far is the powerful X2 M35i, which boasts larger wheels, quad-exit exhaust outlets and a prominent spoiler at rear. Base models are expected to be presented with reserved detailing and 18-inch wheels as standard.

The look for 2024 is rounded out with LED headlights as standard as well as a Satin Aluminum exterior trim, similar to the new X1. A Shadowline trim will be optional, with the new X2 also featuring a sloping roofline. Colors are similar to the palette of the new X1 and include such hues as Phytonic Blue, San Remo Green, Jet Black and Alpine White, as well as more distinctive shades such as Utah Orange and Cape York Green.

Inside, not much has been revealed, but expectations are high! If it follows suit of the last X2, a premium-feeling cabin will be realized, complete with a very logical layout. Seats should be presented with perforated SensaTec 2.0 upholstery as standard with options that include a variety of contrast stitching or sports seats.

In the area of technology within, the X2 will most likely inherit the new X1’s Curved Display which comes complete with a 10.25-inch instrument cluster and a 10.7-inch center information display. There will be sparkling new graphics to be enjoyed, with the infotainment system running BMW’s latest iDrive 8 software. Overall, a high level of personalization is found here!

Its size!

A growth spurt is not only expected, but celebrated in this all-new X2, which should be similar to that realized with the new X1. While the previous X2 measured 172.2 inches in length and 71.8 inches in width and stood 60.1 inches tall, the latter was particularly low in relation to competitors. But with the new model’s crossover shape and body, a taller model is surely expected. It will also have similar weight to that of the X1, which has a curb weight of 3,750 pounds.

Its power!

The same unit as what is within the X1 is to be had within the new X2, which means a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder mill. The X1’s four-pot, however, makes use of the Miller production

cycle, which combines port and direct fuel injection, together with different combustion chamber geometry. This results in outputs of 241 hp and 295 lb—ft of torque.

Also, the X2 is planned to most likely follow suit with the X1, which comes with xDrive all-wheel-drive as standard and gets rid of the previous front-wheel-drive option. And, assuming the same outputs as the X1 and similar dual-clutch seven-speed automatic transmission, the new X2 will be capable of a 0-60 mph time of about 6.2 seconds.

A more powerful M35i version will make its debut, with it expected to be as potent if not more than the current M235i Gran Coupe, which makes 302 hp and impressively hits 60 mph in under five seconds. This top of the lineup takes the spotlight with its quad exhaust pipes at rear, touches of the M greatness!

The X2 will also share most likely the UKL2 platform that the X1 has, which features recalibrate steering, new axle kinematics, aluminum hydromounts and a three-link rear suspension structure with rear-axle subframe. It will, however, possess a sportier suspension tune that sacrifices some rough road versatility.

Gas mileage will match the X1 xDrive 28i’s EPA-rated numbers of 25/34/28 mph city/highway/combined. Both the X1 and the X2 have larger 16.1-gallon gas tanks, which, while less efficient, give the vehicle the ability to travel a bit further on a tank.

Other touches!

The X2 will come standard with a plethora of safety features and useful items including dual-zone climate control, active blind-spot detection, a power lift gate, forward collision warning and park distance control.

Its price tag!

Although a price has not yet been revealed, a comparison with the X1 gives a hint! The new X1 is just over $3,000 more than the outgoing model so that same price hike is expected for the X2. Last year’s was set at an MSRP of $36,600 in the USA, with the 2024 model expected to cost drivers about $40,000 if BMW still sells a base front-wheel-drive variant. An additional $2,000 will be expected for the xDrive model, with the quicker and more powerful M35i costing consumers closer to $50,000.

While not every detail is revealed, there is much presented so far when it comes to the all-new X2 for 2024. From sporty styling to M touches and extreme power under hood, this crossover is better than ever before! Reserve yours today
